House Bill 813

     AN ACT TO REQUIRE CERTAIN NEW BRIDGES AND REPLACEMENT BRIDGES ON CERTAIN COUNTY AND SECONDARY ROADS TO BE CONSTRUCTED OR REPLACED AS TIMBER BRIDGES; TO REQUIRE PREFERENCE FOR MISSISSIPPI TIMBER; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Any new bridge construction or bridge replacement on all county and secondary roads with an annual average daily traffic of one hundred twenty-five (125) or less and a span of one hundred (100) feet or less must be a timber bridge with a load limit holding more than forty-two (42) tons.  Timber bridges under this section shall be constructed with preference given to Mississippi grown, harvested, milled and treated timber.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
