A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING OCTOBER 2020 AS "NATIONAL PRINCIPALS MONTH".

     WHEREAS, National Principals Month is a special time to recognize and thank principals for the essential role that they play in making a school successful; and

     WHEREAS, each October, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the National Association of Elementary School Principals, and the American Federation of School Administrators have declared the month of October 2020 to be "National Principals Month"; and

     WHEREAS, principals are educational and instructional leaders who work collaboratively with teachers, fellow administrators, and parents to achieve academic excellence and develop clear missions, high curriculum standards, and performance goals; and

     WHEREAS, principals are among the hardest working, yet often least recognized individuals in education; and

     WHEREAS, because of their hard work and dedication, principals deserve a month of recognition here in Mississippi to honor these unsung heroes for their tireless efforts in pursuit of excellence in education; and

     WHEREAS, the celebration of National Principals Month honors principals in elementary, middle, and high schools across America, and it recognizes the significant role that they have in molding students into bright and successful future leaders:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize that October is "National Principals Month", commend all principals for their work, and encourage all residents to honor and support principals in their communities and to engage with their local schools.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be forwarded to the State Board of Education for proper distribution, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corp.
