Senate Bill 2269

AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE OPEN CARRYING OF A FIREARM WHILE PARTICIPATING IN CERTAIN PARADES OR DEMONSTRATIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  It is unlawful for a person to possess a firearm while the person is participating in a parade or demonstration for which a permit is required.

     (2)  Any person violating this section shall be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), or committed to the custody of the State Department of Corrections for not less than one (1) year nor more than ten (10) years, or both.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2020.
