House Resolution 92

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. JACK QUICK AND MRS. BETTY QUICK UPON THE OCCASION OF THEIR 70TH ANNIVERSARY AND CONGRATULATING MRS. QUICK UPON THE OCCASION OF HER 90TH BIRTHDAY.

     WHEREAS, as a testament to true love, Mr. Jack Quick and Mrs. Betty Quick celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on April 7, 2020, a truly extraordinary occasion that signifies a lifetime of love and commitment to one another; and

     WHEREAS, true love struck when Mr. and Mrs. Quick met, and they were united as one after exchanging the vows of holy matrimony on April 7, 1950, at First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, and since the day they said "I do," their passionate, selfless love has rivaled the tender, boundless love described in great, romantic literary classics; and

     WHEREAS, after they married, Mr. and Mrs. Quick began building their family, and to their union, three children were born:  Larry, Carolyn and Mike, and the two were further blessed with seven grandchildren:  Brad, Jason, Brian, Jamie, Bethany, Justin and Josh, and eleven great-grandchildren:  Brenda, Garon, Christopher, Brandon, Sydney, Karlie, JP, Bailey, Hunter, Tye and Jack; and

     WHEREAS, as longtime residents of Florence, Mississippi, for the past 61 years, Mr. Quick worked 43 years with The Clarion Ledger and retired as a composing room supervisor, and Mrs. Quick worked for Robinson Brothers Automobile Dealership as a bookkeeper and also for the Rankin County School District for 13 years, where she was the secretary at the new Florence Elementary School; and

     WHEREAS, throughout their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Quick have found a lasting and wonderful friendship and raised a family, all while growing closer together, and after 70 years of marital bliss, the two still enjoy spending time with one another as they even opened a successful wedding photography business called Jack Quick Photography after they both retired; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to celebrating their 70th anniversary this year, Mrs. Quick also celebrated her 90th birthday on February 20, 2020, a truly splendid occasion and testament to a life well-lived; and

     WHEREAS, with their love and adoration for one another, Mr. and Mrs. Quick inspire every couple that crosses their path to treat one another with respect, support each other's goals and ambitions, and, most importantly, to love unconditionally; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and celebrate the marital relationships of fine Mississippians, especially those such as Mr. Jack Quick and Mrs. Betty Quick, who inspire their family and their community with their unceasing, enduring love and respect for one another after 70 years of marriage and bring honor to the great State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Mr. Jack Quick and Mrs. Betty Quick upon the occasion of their 70th wedding anniversary, congratulate Mrs. Quick upon the occasion of her 90th birthday, and express best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Jack Quick and Mrs. Betty Quick and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
