AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 43-21-501, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT THE SERVICE OF SUMMONS PROCESS IN YOUTH COURT SHALL BE MADE PURSUANT TO THE UNIFORM RULES OF YOUTH COURT PRACTICE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 43-21-501, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     43-21-501.  * * *When a petition has been filed and the date of hearing has been set by the youth court, the judge or his designee shall order the clerk of the youth court to issue a summons to the following to appear personally at such hearing: Service of summons upon the child named in the petition, the person or persons who have custody or control of the child, the parent or guardian of the child if such parent or guardian does not have custody of the child and any other person whom the court deems necessary shall be made pursuant to the Uniform Rules of Youth Court Practice.

 * * *  (a)  the child named in the petition;

  (b)  the person or persons who have custody or control of the child;

  (c)  the parent or guardian of the child if such parent or guardian does not have custody of the child; and

  (d)  any other person whom the court deems necessary.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2020.
