House Bill 1171

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE MEMBERS OF ANY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO BE DESIGNATED AS A "FIRST RESPONDER" UPON SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE ACTIVE COURSE WORK OF THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY INDEPENDENT STUDY PROGRAM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  This section shall be known as and may be cited as the "Travis Alford First Responders Act."

     SECTION 2.  Members of any county board of supervisors who have not previously been designated as a "first responder" may receive the designation of "first responder" upon receiving six (6) hours of successful completion of the active course work of the Federal Emergency Management Agency Independent Study Program.

     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2020.
