AMEND by striking lines 14 through 30 in their entirety.

AMEND further on line 31 by deleting (d) and inserting in lieu thereof:  (c)

AMEND further lines 42 through 57 by deleting them in their entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:  levy and collect from every person, firm or corporation operating a restaurant in the city, a tax, which shall be in addition to all other taxes and assessments imposed, which shall not exceed three percent (3%) of the gross proceeds derived from the sale of prepared food and beverages by all restaurants in the city.

AMEND further on line 58 by deleting (3) and by inserting in lieu thereof:  (2)

AMEND further on line 64  by deleting (4) and by inserting in lieu thereof:  (3)

AMEND further on line 69 by deleting (5) and by inserting in lieu thereof:  (4)

     AMEND further on line 75 by deleting the following:  "on hotels and motels or"

     AMEND title by deleting lines 1 through 8 in their entirety and by inserting in lieu thereof the following:  AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI, TO LEVY A TAX UPON THE GROSS PROCEEDS OF THE SALES OF RESTAURANTS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED 3% FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDS FOR THE PROMOTION OF TOURISM, PARKS AND RECREATION WITHIN THE CITY; TO PROVIDE FOR AN ELECTION ON THE QUESTION OF WHETHER THE TAX MAY BE LEVIED; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
