A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE HARTFIELD ACADEMY "HAWKS" GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND RECOGNIZING HEAD COACH MORGAN MCNEELY FOR BEING SELECTED AS MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS "COACH OF THE YEAR."

     WHEREAS, the 2018-2019 Hartfield Academy "Hawks" Volleyball Team has completed an outstanding season by winning the State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, a 3-1 victory over four-time defending Champion Jackson Academy was necessary to win the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools State Championship.  Other State Tournament victories included First-Round win over Heritage Academy and Semifinals victory over Hillcrest Christian School.  The team completed the season with a record 28-5, including victories over Mississippi High School Activities Association opponents Northwest Rankin, St. Andrew's, Warren Central and St. Joseph; and

     WHEREAS, All-Tournament Team recognition:  Julia Dyess, Stevie Nesbit, Emma Dyess and Heidi Klein.  Sophomore Outside Hitter Julia Dyess had 30 kills and 20 digs as Hartfield won its first State Volleyball Championship.  Julia Dyess has committed to play at Ole Miss.  Junior Setter Heidi Klein was recognized nationally by MaxPreps; and

     WHEREAS, Hartfield Academy's Coach Morgan McNeely was selected as Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Coach of the Year; and

     WHEREAS, the 2018-2019 Hartfield Academy Girls Championship Volleyball Team Roster:  Nikki Lawrence, OH, DS; Annie Sullivan, RS; Stevie Nesbit, MH; Emma Dyess, L; Julia Dyess, OH; Jill Sullivan, S; Addie McNeely, OPP, OH; Cailey Walker, MH, RS; Heidi Klein, S; and Avery Rushing, MH; Head Coach Morgan McNeely and Assistant Coach Moises Rodriquez; and

     WHEREAS, Hartfield Academy Athletics is a Christ-centered, athletic program in Flowood, Mississippi, which exists to help students physically, emotionally and academically; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Hartfield Academy "Hawks" Girls Volleyball Team for winning the MAIS State Championship and recognizing Head Coach Morgan McNeely for being selected as MAIS "Coach of the Year," and extend the best wishes of the Legislature to the players, coaches, parents and sponsors for future success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach of the Year Morgan McNeely for the team and Hartfield Academy Head of School David Horner, forwarded to the Board of Trustees of Hartfield Academy, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
