Senate Concurrent Resolution 594

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE GULFPORT BOYS "ADMIRALS" SOCCER TEAM AND HEAD COACH HENRIK MADSEN FOR WINNING BACK-TO-BACK CLASS 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS.

WHEREAS, it's starting to look like title town for the Gulfport Boys High School "Admirals" Soccer Program, having claimed its second-straight Class 6A State Championship on February 9, 2019; and

WHEREAS, early on, Gannon Key had a huge stop on a penalty kick to keep it scoreless at the half. In the second half, senior player Joseph Cumberland blasts one in the back of the net to give the Admirals a 1-0 lead. Just three minutes later, Durron Myers tacks on another for a 2-0 lead with 30 minutes remaining. The defense would hold in what turned out to be a 2-1 triumph over Northwest Rankin; and

WHEREAS, congratulations to Head Coach Henrik Madsen and the rest of the Gulfport Admirals, and it is with great pride that we recognize this special group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Gulfport Boys "Admirals" Soccer Team and Head Coach Henrik Madsen for winning back-to-back Class 6A State Championships, and extend to the team members, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Madsen and Gulfport High School Principal Michael Lindsey, forwarded to the Gulfport School Board, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
