AN ACT TO CREATE THE "MISSISSIPPI DAYLIGHT PROTECTION ACT"; TO PROVIDE LEGISLATIVE INTENT THAT DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME SHALL BE THE YEAR-ROUND STANDARD TIME OF THE ENTIRE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI AND ALL OF ITS POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  This section shall be known and may be cited as the "Mississippi Daylight Protection Act."

     (2)  If the United States Congress amends 15 USC Section 260(a), to authorize states to observe daylight saving time year-round, it is the intent of the Legislature that daylight saving time shall be the year-round standard time of the entire State of Mississippi and all of its political subdivisions.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2019.
