A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE DISTINGUISHED PUBLIC SERVICE AND COMMITMENT OF LONGTIME COUNTY OFFICIAL AND BUSINESSMAN, MR. BILLY JOE BOUTWELL, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS SUPERVISOR OF DISTRICT 2 OF LAWRENCE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.

WHEREAS, after 28 years of dedicated and zealous service to the citizens of Lawrence County as Supervisor of District 2, Mr. Billy Joe Boutwell, a community pillar and shrewd business savvy individual, tendered his resignation from office, effective February 28, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Boutwell, by his faithful service as Supervisor and as a lifelong Lawrence County resident, has exhibited a deep commitment to and love for his community, not just in District 2, but throughout the entirety of Lawrence County; and

WHEREAS, much of the success accomplished by Mr. Boutwell during his seven-term tenure as County Supervisor is due in large part to the great assistance and constituent service provided by his wife, Shelby Jean, to whom he has been married to for many years; and

WHEREAS, all elected county and municipal leaders and employees of Lawrence County who have been privileged to serve with Mr. Boutwell will cherish the bond and common goals for the betterment of Lawrence County shared with him over the course of the past 28 years, and that his impeccable service remains unparalleled to the constituents of District 2; and

WHEREAS, in appreciation of Mr. Boutwell's dedicated service to the Lawrence County community, it is with gratitude that we note his retirement and say, "Thank you," for a job well-done; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor the indelible legacy of distinguished service of public servants, elected to work for the greater good of the community, of Mr. Boutwell's caliber, who has represented Lawrence County with honor and intrepid dignity:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the service, commitment and lifelong contributions of Mr. Billy Joe Boutwell upon the occasion of his retirement from public office as Supervisor of District 2 of Lawrence County, Mississippi, after 28 remarkable years of laudable service, and extend best wishes for a long and prosperous retirement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Billy Joe and Shelby Jean Boutwell, the Board of Supervisors of Lawrence County, Mississippi, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
