A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE EUPORA HIGH SCHOOL EAGLES CHEERLEADING TEAM FOR WINNING THE FIRST EVER 2018 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION 1A-3A NON TUMBLE VARSITY GAME DAY DIVISION.

     WHEREAS, proving hard work and diligence are the keys to success, the Eupora High School Eagles Cheerleading Team competed in the 2018 Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) State Cheer Competition Game Day Division, and after a flawless and electric performance, they became the first ever 1A-3A Non Tumble Varsity Game Day Champions; and

     WHEREAS, the new Game Day Division of the MHSAA State Cheer Championships focuses on the essential skills that cheerleaders actually employ during games such as crowd leading effectiveness, motion technique and execution of skills, and to claim the first ever state cheerleading title in the division, the Eupora High School Cheerleaders solidified their rise to championship status by receiving the highest scores in 13 of the 16 categories; and

     WHEREAS, under the insightful and accomplished leadership of Head Coaches Tyler Gray and Jamie Walker, the Eagles did an exceptional job of rehearsing their cheers, unifying all of their strengths to make a good squad and ultimately executing an outstanding job working toward the accomplishment of this highly pursued goal; and     

     WHEREAS, throughout this special season, the Eupora High School Cheerleaders worked extremely hard to succeed, and the members have improved exponentially in all aspects of their cheering abilities, which is largely due to their outstanding God given talent, strong desire to win and tremendous work ethic; and

     WHEREAS, the members of the Eupora High School Cheerleading Team, who constantly impress with their sincere displays of professionalism and self discipline, include:  seniors, Grace Austin, Katelyn Boatman, Raiunna Brantley and Lauren Lusk; juniors, Anna Bailey, Patience Bingham, Gracie Burton, Wesleigh Cummings and Addison Mason; sophomores, Princess Carr, Rylee Brooke Crowell, Ella Harrison, Kyla Jackson and Callie Moore; freshmen, Caleigh Hawes and Patsy Herard; 8th graders, Neelie Dillinger, Aubree Mason and Lillian Winter; and mascot, Alana Hunter; and

     WHEREAS, the Eagles Cheerleaders have practiced and worked together for many hours in the pursuit of greatness and have shown a high degree of sportsmanship while representing the State of Mississippi at all levels of competition, and through their superior accomplishments, these Magnolia State student athletes have brought honor to themselves, their families and to Eupora High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding student athletes such as the Eupora High School Eagles Cheerleading Team, whose superb attitudes and unparalleled determination to reach their championship goal brought honor and glory to Eupora High School and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Eupora High School Eagles Cheerleading Team for winning the first ever 2018 Mississippi High School Activities Association 1A-3A Non Tumble Varsity Game Day Division, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coaches Tyler Gray and Jamie Walker and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
