House Concurrent Resolution 19

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NESHOBA CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL LADY ROCKETS SLOW-PITCH SOFTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2018 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION DIVISION III SLOW-PITCH SOFTBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Neshoba Central High School Lady Rockets Slow-pitch Softball Team clinched their seventh straight state championship when they swept the Wayne County High School Lady War Eagles 16-11 and 16-0 to win the 2018 Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Division III Slow-pitch Softball State Championship at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Rockets persevered and dominated both games to dash the state championship dreams of the Lady War Eagles, reigning victorious and finishing their season as the indomitable Lady Rockets that they truly are; and

     WHEREAS, striving to win with unparalleled motivation and ardent determination, the Lady Rockets, with their impressive 32-1 season record, played one of their best games of the season during the second game of the championship, as their mental stamina and athletic prowess never wavered from the moment they first walked onto that red, dusty diamond until they were finally able to gleefully display their well-deserved championship trophy; and   

     WHEREAS, the Lady Rockets' statistics were impressive this season, and the key to the team's consistent success has been the extraordinary team spirit and year round hard work by the following talented and distinguished players: Sindle Williams, Madalyn Thompson, Tori Henderson, Hamaya Fielder, Hallie Billie, Aspen Wesley, Tenly Grisham, Emily Berry, Kylee Thompson, Reese Page, Kenadie Quick, Makenzie Barnett, Jada Ben, Rivers Gray, Destiny Dill, Elleigh Willis, Shante Beaulieu, Mary Kate Hardy, Alex Bowen and Alexus Lathem; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Rockets have been superbly coached and incredibly inspired by Head Coach Trae Embry, who broadened the team's knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution, helping the players reach their fullest potential on and off the field; and

     WHEREAS, in their tireless dedication, the Lady Rockets have developed a winning, cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, reflecting greatly upon each of the individual players and Coach Embry; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend the superb accomplishments of Mississippi student-athletes, especially those such as the Neshoba Central High School Lady Rockets Slow-pitch Softball Team, whose excellence on the field brings honor to their school, their community and the State of Mississippi:  

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Neshoba Central High School Lady Rockets Slow-pitch Softball Team and Head Coach Trae Embry for winning the 2018 MHSAA Division III Slow-pitch Softball State Championship and extend best wishes to the team and Coach Trae Embry for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Trae Embry and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
