AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME SHALL BE THE YEAR-ROUND STANDARD TIME OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI IF FEDERAL LAW IS AMENDED TO AUTHORIZE STATES TO OBSERVE DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME YEAR-ROUND AND ALL CONTIGUOUS STATES OBSERVE THE SAME; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  This section shall be known and may be cited as the "Sunshine Protection Act."

     (2)  If the United States Congress amends 15 U.S.C. 260a to authorize states to observe daylight saving time year-round, and all contiguous state observe the same, then daylight saving time shall be the year-round standard time of the State of Mississippi and all of its political subdivisions.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2019.
