AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 93-16-1, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CLARIFY THAT A MINOR, FOR PURPOSES OF GRANDPARENT VISITATION, MEANS 18 YEARS OF AGE OR YOUNGER; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 93-16-1, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     93-16-1.  Any court of this state which is competent to decide child custody matters shall have jurisdiction to grant visitation rights with a minor child or children to the grandparents of such minor child or children as provided in this chapter.  For purposes of this chapter, the term "minor" means any child eighteen (18) years of age or younger.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2019.
