AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 63-3-909, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REMOVE THE PROHIBITION ON LEAVING YOUR CAR UNATTENDED WITHOUT FIRST STOPPING THE ENGINE AND REMOVING THE KEY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 63-3-909, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     63-3-909.  No person driving or in charge of a motor vehicle shall permit it to stand unattended * * *without first stopping the engine, locking the ignition and removing the key, and, when standing upon any perceptible grade, without effectively setting the brake thereon and turning the front wheels to the curb or side of the highway.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2019.
