House Bill 154

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE GREENE COUNTY TO EXPEND FUNDS RECEIVED FROM THE LOCAL SYSTEM BRIDGE REPLACEMENT AND REHABILITATION FUND FOR CERTAIN FISCAL YEARS FOR THE REPLACEMENT OR REHABILITATION OF DEFICIENT BRIDGES LOCATED ON STATE AID ROADS IN THE COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, funds received by Greene County from the Local System Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Fund under Sections 65-37-1 through 65-37-15 for fiscal year 2016 through fiscal year 2020 may be expended by the Board of Supervisors of Greene County for the replacement or rehabilitation of deficient bridges located on state aid roads in the county, in addition to or as an alternative to expending those funds for the replacement or rehabilitation of deficient bridges located on local road systems in the county. As used in this section, the term "deficient bridge" means and has the same definition as that term has in Section 65-37-3, except that the bridge may be on the state aid road system. The expenditure of funds by the Board of Supervisors of Greene County for the purpose authorized by this section shall not make Greene County ineligible for the receipt and expenditure of funds from the Local System Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Fund that would otherwise be allocated to Greene County under Sections 65-37-1 through 65-37-15.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2019.
