A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE OUTSTANDING LEGACY OF PUBLIC SERVICE OF MILFORD CURRIE AFTER 40 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE AND THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF ARCHIVES AND HISTORY.

     WHEREAS, Milford Currie is retiring after 40 years of outstanding service to the Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) and the State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Currie served in the Governor's Office of General Services from 1977 to 1987; and

     WHEREAS, in 1987, Currie came to the department to work in the exhibits section of the State Historical Museum at the Old Capitol Restoration; and

     WHEREAS, Currie helped fabricate and install more than 100 award-winning exhibits at the Old Capitol; and

     WHEREAS, Currie refurbished traveling exhibits and transported them to local museums and libraries across the state; and

     WHEREAS, Currie was invaluable for his ready assistance with set-up for special events and programs, and he often escorted scholars and dignitaries; and

     WHEREAS, Currie also worked in the MDAH Administration Division in the mailroom; and

     WHEREAS, in this role, Currie became known and beloved in the community as he carried out his duties on behalf of the department; and

     WHEREAS, over the years, Currie established a special rapport with members of the Legislature, staff, and everyone else at the State Capitol; and

     WHEREAS, Currie will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues for his welcoming manner, dedication, and good taste in music; and

     WHEREAS, we join the Mississippi Department of Archives and History in recognizing a wonderful example for public servants:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the outstanding legacy of public service of Milford Currie after 40 years of dedicated service to the Governor's Office and the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, and extend the best wishes of the Senate to Milford and his family on this auspicious occasion.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Milford Currie, forwarded to the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
