A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE RECORD OF EFFECTIVE PUBLIC SERVICE OF MISSISSIPPI OIL AND GAS BOARD EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR LISA IVSHIN ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT.

     WHEREAS, Mississippi Oil and Gas Board Executive Director Lisa Ivshin has announced her retirement after 35 years of effective professional leadership and service to the oil and gas industry in Mississippi and the Gulf South region; and

     WHEREAS, prior to her appointment as Executive Director, Lisa served as Deputy Director for Geology and Underground Injection Permits; and

     WHEREAS, in 2013, as Chairman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, Governor Phil Bryant commended Lisa Ivshin and requested the federal government to continue the support of state regulatory programs which have been at the forefront of oil and gas exploration since 1935.  State programs are as varied as the geography, climate, geology and social fabric of each state and is designed to be flexible yet effective in providing the world's best environment protection and regulation to fuel this country and its economic well-being; and

     WHEREAS, Lisa Ivshin has been uniquely qualified at understanding oilfield operations and emerging technologies because in her career she lived and worked in the field.  Under her leadership, the Mississippi Oil and Gas Board continues to deliver effective solutions to regulatory challenges; and

     WHEREAS, Lisa is a wonderful example for public servants, and it is with great pride that we commend her record of achievement and her legacy of dedication to her colleagues in the oil and gas industry which benefits all in Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize the record of effective public service of Mississippi Oil and Gas Board Executive Director Lisa Ivshin on the occasion of her retirement, and extend to Lisa and her family our best wishes for continued success and our thanks for her service.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Lisa Ivshin, forwarded to the Mississippi Oil and Gas Board, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
