Senate Concurrent Resolution 634

(As Adopted by Senate)

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE INGOMAR HIGH SCHOOL "LADY FALCONS" GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACH TRENT ADAIR FOR THEIR THIRD STRAIGHT CLASS 2A STATE TITLE.

WHEREAS, Ingomar Coach Trent Adair and his players proudly accepted the 2A Trophy after their victory against New Site on March 9, 2018.  New Site tried to stall and keep possession for as long as they could in the first half, taking the ball with five minutes in the first quarter and held onto it until it committed a turnover with 30 seconds left.  The strategy may have kept things close early, 5-2 in the first quarter, but Ingomar pulled away to win 46-19 for their third straight 2A State Title; and

WHEREAS, Ingomar led 13-2 at halftime, but New Site wanted to stick with the stall a little longer to start the third quarter.  Then Ingomar did what Ingomar does:  It forced turnovers then made the right play on nearly every possession.  The Lady Falcons sank 4-of-5 3-pointers in the third quarter and increased that 13-2 lead to 28-6; and

WHEREAS, Ingomar now has three-straight titles and graduates crucial seniors:  Mallory Russell, Lindsay Hall, Jatyjia Jones, Allie Williams, and Maggie Smithey.  Adair said none of the three championships stand out from the rest.  "Just as special as the first two," he said.  "Each year, we just try to win it."  Next year, they will try to win a fourth; and

WHEREAS, the 2018 Lady Falcons Championship Team Roster:  Kaily Edwards, PG, SG; Gara Beth Self, PG; Audrey Melton, PG; Carson Grisham, SF, SG, PF; Lindsay Hall, PG, SG, SF; Jatyjia Jones, SG, SF, PF; Allie Williams, SF, PF; Ashley Forester, SG, PG; Maggie Smithey, SG, SF; Macy Hall, SF; Lauren Thompson, SF, PF; Mallory Russell, C, PF; Patience Golden, PF; Sanaa Finley, PF, C; and Coach Trent Adair; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student athletes who have brought pride to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Ingomar High School "Lady Falcons" Girls Basketball Team and Coach Trent Adair for their third straight Class 2A State Title, and extend our best wishes to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors for future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Trent Adair and Ingomar Principal Robin Denton for the team, forwarded to the Union County Board of Education, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
