House Resolution 91

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE VEX/IQ MISSISSIPPI ROBOTICS CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS FROM LAMAR COUNTY.

     WHEREAS, elementary students in Lamar County made a big showing at the VEX/IQ Mississippi Robotics Championship; and

     WHEREAS, fourth grade sibling twins Jacob and Katie Roark, known as the Twin Bots, won first place and were the only dual winners of the competition winning the Teamwork Champions award and the Skills award; and

     WHEREAS, third graders Anna Boudreaux, Jaeli Harris, Ruthie Hutchinson and Rachel Woods, known as the BEARbots, were Design award winners; and

     WHEREAS, third graders John Flock, Devin Madden, and Kane McCormick, known as the Scholar Bots, were Teamwork Champions; and

     WHEREAS, third graders Kaden Blair and Griffin Beason, known as the Astro Bots, won second place for Teamwork; and

     WHEREAS, James and Jacob Riles, known as the Bro Bots, won second place for Skills; and

     WHEREAS, Madelyn Courtney, Mica Shemper and Elliot Walsh, known as the AquaBots, were the Excellence award winners; and

     WHEREAS, August Shivers, Parker Creel, William Johnson, Madeline Seal and Faith Guy, known as the Chili Bots, qualified for the World Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the Twin Bots and AquaBots are currently ranked in the top 50 teams worldwide out of 3,000 teams; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to congratulate and honor the impressive accomplishments of Mississippi youth, who work hard and bring honor to their communities and our state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the VEX/IQ Mississippi Robotics Championship winners from Lamar County.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to each participant and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
