House Resolution 53

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE DISTINGUISHED CAREER AND MERITORIOUS LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE OF MR. FRANK E. GAMMILL UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE MISSISSIPPI BOARD OF PHARMACY.

     WHEREAS, the Executive Director of the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy and exceptional public servant, Mr. Frank E. Gammill, retires after a remarkably distinguished, 21-year career of exemplary leadership and service to the State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, born on April 25, 1941, in Jackson, Mississippi, Mr. Gammill grew up in the small town of Union Church, Mississippi, which widely influenced his passion for pharmacy, and graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1959; and

     WHEREAS, after attending Copiah-Lincoln Community College for one year, Mr. Gammill enrolled in the University of Mississippi's School of Pharmacy, and graduated from the school on May 26, 1963; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Gammill became a licensed pharmacist by the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy on August 25, 1964, and embarked on his 34-year career in retail pharmacy that same year, opening Gammill's Pharmacy in Hazlehurst to serve the great people of that community; and

     WHEREAS, on January 1, 1997, Mr. Gammill began his second career in pharmacy when he was hired as a Senior Compliance Agent with the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy, and because of his skill and zealous devotion to the profession, he was promoted to Executive Director of the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy in July 2009; and

     WHEREAS, throughout his career, Mr. Gammill has received unwavering support from his wife and the love of his life, Loufran Holman, whom he met during his time at Ole Miss, his children, Kneeland and Michael, and his five grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, a licensed pharmacist in Mississippi for 53 years, Mr. Gammill has been an incredible public servant to the Magnolia State as the Executive Director of the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy, and his knowledge, skill and strenuous laboriousness will be dearly missed by all of his colleagues and others who were fortunate to have the opportunity to work with him and experience his greatness; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the steadfast devotion to the betterment of Mississippi and honor the ardent vow to impeccable public service that Mr. Frank E. Gammill bestowed upon the citizens of Mississippi as the Executive Director of the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the distinguished career and meritorious leadership and service of Mr. Frank E. Gammill upon the occasion of his retirement as the Executive Director of the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy and extend sincere wishes for rest and relaxation in the lighter days ahead.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Frank E. Gammill and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
