House Resolution 51

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ST. STANISLAUS COLLEGE ROCK-A-CHAWS BOYS SOCCER TEAM FOR AN OVERALL OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE 2018 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS 4A STATE SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the St. Stanislaus College Rock-a-Chaws Boys Soccer Team completed an outstanding season with a resounding victory against Amory High School at the 2018 MHSAA Class 4A State Soccer Championship, their fourth championship win in the last five seasons; and

     WHEREAS, playing with full hearts and unimaginable amounts of finesse and might, keeping the pressure offense at full throttle and the defense allowing just three shots on goal in 80 minutes of action, the Rock-a-Chaws outplayed and ultimately outlasted Amory High School to win 1-0, giving the program its ninth 2018 MHSAA Class 4A state title since 1996 and proving their tremendous consistency once again; and

      WHEREAS, the team's season record of 19-3-1 was most impressive, and the key to their success was the tremendous team spirit and year-round hard work by the following talented student-athletes:  Lee Negrotto, Stephen Schruff, Ryan Necaise, Clayton Benzing, Alex Koons, Kade Whittmann, Logan Verdigets, Brandon Elkins, Jackson Thriffiley, William Weber, Max Matsenbaugh, Evan Byrne, Parker Slade, Christopher Luffey, Stephen Bonck, Kaleb Allen, Beau Rimmer, Charlie DeMetz, Gabe Toepfer, Grant Sides, Michael Cabell, Carter Landry, Austin Schruff, Jackson Maillho, Keegan Leverette and Joshua Elkins; and

     WHEREAS, the Rock-a-Chaws have been exceptionally coached and tremendously inspired by Head Coach Danny Patton and Assistant Coach John Necaise, who have broadened the team's knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, striving to win with unparalleled motivation and fervent determination during the final game of the season, the team's mental stamina and athletic prowess never wavered from the moment they stepped onto the field until they sealed their victory at the end of the match and they raised their well-deserved championship trophy; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize outstanding student-athletes, especially those such as the St. Stanislaus College Rock-a-Chaws Boys Soccer Team, whose exceptional talent on the field brings honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the St. Stanislaus College Rock-a-Chaws Boys Soccer Team for an overall outstanding season and for winning the 2018 MHSAA Class 4A State Soccer Championship.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Danny Patton and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
