House Bill 1422

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY SAFETY PATROL TO DEVELOP RULES AND REGULATIONS THAT ALLOW PATROLMEN THE USE OF VEHICLES WHEN OFF-DUTY TO ESCORT SUPER OVER-DIMENSIONAL LOADS ON HIGHWAYS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The Mississippi Department of Public Safety's Division of the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol may develop rules and regulations that allow the agency to provide patrolmen the use of vehicles when off-duty for the purpose of escorting super over-dimensional loads on Mississippi state highways and federal interstates.  Nothing in this act shall be construed to prevent an owner or transporter from using a local law enforcement agency.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
