AN ACT TO RENAME THE FORMER CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING, WHICH HOUSES THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, IN JACKSON, HINDS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, THE "WILLIAM LOWE (BILL) WALLER, SR., EDUCATION BUILDING"; TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO ERECT THE PROPER LETTERING OR SIGNAGE ON THE OUTDOOR FACADE OF THE BUILDING DISPLAYING THE OFFICIAL NAME AS THE "WILLIAM LOWE (BILL) WALLER, SR., EDUCATION BUILDING"; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The building located at 359 North West Street, which was formerly the Central High School Building, which presently houses the State Department of Education, located within Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi, and under the jurisdiction of the Department of Finance and Administration shall be renamed the "William Lowe (Bill) Waller, Sr., Education Building."

     (2)  The Department of Finance and Administration shall prepare or have prepared a distinctive plaque, to be placed in a prominent place within the former Central High School Building, that states the background, accomplishments and service to the state of the Honorable William Lowe (Bill) Waller, Sr.  The Department of Finance and Administration in conjunction with the State Department of Education shall erect or cause to be erected proper lettering or signage on the outdoor facade of the building displaying the official name of the building as the "William Lowe (Bill) Waller, Sr., Education Building."  Any and all funds necessary to accomplish this act will be appropriated by the Legislature for such purpose.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2018.
