A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE 2012 AND 2013 RETIREES OF MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY FOR THEIR NUMEROUS YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AND EXTENDING BEST WISHES UPON THEIR RETIREMENT.

     WHEREAS, a number of treasured employees of Mississippi Valley State University have retired since the 2011-2012 school year and others have announced plans for retirement at the conclusion of the 2012-2013 school year, after giving many years of their time and service to the students of the university, including:  2011-2012 retirees, Chukwuma Ahanou, Professor of Education; Edgar Bland, Director of Information Technology; Caloron Byrd, Director of Personnel Housing and Business Finance; Robert Collins, facilities management; Jo Anne Heisterkamp, Director of Field Experience and Assistant Professor of Education; Calvin Henry, residential life; Marundo Hubbard, Administrative Assistant; Nathaniel Kilbert, head coach women's basketball; Juho Kim, Professor of Business Administration; JoAnn Lawson, Administrative Assistant; Ademola Omishakin, Professor of Natural Science; Arthur Moore, Director of Men's College; Clinton Powell, facilities management; Mattie Pruitt, laundry; Maxcine Rush, Director of Student Records; Charles Ruth, Assistant Professor and men's track coach; James Thurmond, University Police; and Gloria Turner, Advancement Associate; and 2012-2013 retirees, Emma Baker, radio station secretary; Barbara Coleman, secretary and talent search; Betty Farmer, Assistant Professor of English and Foreign Language; Shirley Grayson, Director of University Testing; Charlie Ross, dispatcher for University Police; Willie Sandifer, Facilities Management Supervisor; Valarie Totten, Administrative Assistant to the President; and Leonard Tramiel, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts; and

     WHEREAS, throughout their years of service to Mississippi Valley State University, these retirees have contributed countless hours and a combined total of 407 years of experience fulfilling the duties and obligations associated with their various positions; and

     WHEREAS, these retirees are responsible for preparing and grooming an entire generation of future doctors, lawyers, nurses, politicians, teachers, leaders and other role models to face the challenges and victories that the future holds in store for our great nation; and

     WHEREAS, through tireless dedication and loving patience these retirees have made Mississippi a greater state by educating our children to become productive, God-fearing, responsible citizens and ensuring that the university as a whole is operating successfully; and

     WHEREAS, the citizens of this fine state owe an immeasurable debt to the retired employees of Mississippi Valley State University as they move to the lighter days of their awaited retirement; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by people who have dedicated so many years of their lives to developing and cultivating the minds and spirits of the many students with whom they have come in contact during their illustrious careers:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2012 and 2013 retirees of Mississippi Valley State University for numerous years of dedicated service and extend best wishes upon the lighter years of their retirement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Chukwuma Ahanou, Edgar Bland, Caloron Byrd, Robert Collins, Jo Anne Heisterkamp, Calvin Henry, Marundo Hubbard, Nathaniel Kilbert, Juho Kim, JoAnn Lawson, Ademola Omishakin, Arthur Moore, Clinton Powell, Mattie Pruitt, Maxcine Rush, Charles Ruth, James Thurmond, Gloria Turner, Emma Baker, Barbara Coleman, Bettye Farmer, Shirley Grayson, Charlie Ross, Willie Sandifer, Valarie Totten, Leonard Tramiel and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
