A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2013 OCEAN SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL GREYHOUNDS GIRLS SOCCER TEAM FOR WINNING THEIR FIRST MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND EXTEND TO THE PLAYERS, COACHES, PARENTS AND SPONSORS BEST WISHES FOR THIS ACCOMPLISHMENT AND FOR FUTURE SUCCESSES.

     WHEREAS, the dynamic Ocean Springs High School Girls Soccer Team delivered the school's first state title in girls soccer on February 1, 2013, when the team captured the 6A State Championship by defeating Tupelo 2-0 at Arrow Field; and

     WHEREAS, the ladies' team was aglow on Arrow Field when they claimed the Mississippi High School Association's gold soccer ball, which they worked hard to earn; and

     WHEREAS, the members of the Greyhounds Girls Soccer Championship Team are Monique Autmon (Team Captain), Darien Ellison (Team Captain), Samantha Grunwald, Delaney Gustafson, Khalyn Harmon, Zakiya Levy, Katelyn Williams, Savannah Carter, Erica Charlton, Robin Cosmich, Courtney Hargroder, Katie Samuelson, Baylea Seymour, Ashton Stennis, Rhyan Tompson, Alex Williams, Brandi Szigeti, Kirstyn Williams, Karsen Gildea, Mary Rieger, Sarah Parker Daniels, Madison Sellers, Rylee Foster, Sunna Savani, Tamara Dannenburg and Catilin Jowett; and

     WHEREAS, the team was proudly lead to its championship by Head Coach Patrick Hayes, Assistant Coach Warren Gifford and Goalkeeper Coach Billy Sargent, whose stellar leadership has emboldened the members of the team to become the champions they now are; and

     WHEREAS, the team's success has garnered recognition by The Clarion Ledger as the No. 1 ranked team out of 15 soccer teams statewide and from Max Preps National Tour of Champions as a recipient, and individually, Monique Autmon and Khalyn Harmon were recognized by The Clarion Ledger as First Team All-State; and

     WHEREAS, the tireless dedication of the Lady Greyhounds Soccer Team helped them to develop a winning, cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, their activities and attitudes reflecting great credit upon the individual players, their coaches and Ocean Springs High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our great state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2013 Ocean Springs High School Greyhounds Girls Soccer Team and Head Coach Patrick Hayes, Assistant Coach Warren Gifford and Goalkeeper Coach Billy Sargent for winning their first Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) 6A State Championship and extend to the players, coaches, parents and sponsors best wishes for this accomplishment and for future successes.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Patrick Hayes, Assistant Coach Warren Gifford, Goalkeeper Coach Billy Sargent, the principal of Ocean Springs High School and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
