Senate Concurrent Resolution 551

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE INGOMAR HIGH SCHOOL "LADY FALCONS" SOFTBALL TEAM OF NEW ALBANY, MISSISSIPPI, FOR WINNING THE CLASS 1A STATE SLOW-PITCH SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT AND FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2006 SEASON.

     WHEREAS, the Ingomar High School "Lady Falcons" Softball Team of New Albany, Mississippi, defeated Bogue Chitto 8-5 in the first game and 15-6 in the finale on Saturday, October 21, 2006, and won the Class 1A State Slow-Pitch Softball Championship Tournament at the Veterans Field in Jackson, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Falcons had an outstanding season, finishing with a 22-9 record; and

     WHEREAS, the team performed very well in tournament play, winning the Union County Championship, Runner-up in the Division 2-1A Tournament, winning the North Half Championship and the State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the following team members earned individual honors for excellence in season and tournament play:  Ashley Hale, All-District, All-State; Heather Deaton, District MVP, All-State; Molly Speck, All-District, All-State; Brittani Gilliam, All-District, All-State; Lyndi Kidd, 2nd Team All-District; Brittany Tanner, All-District; Stephanie Dillard, All-District; and Natalie Frenn, 2nd Team All-District; and

     WHEREAS, the team was ably coached and inspired by Head Coach Andy Wilbanks and Assistant Coach Austin Kent; and

     WHEREAS, the roster of the 2006 edition of the Lady Falcons is as follows:  Ashley Hale, 12th Grade; Heather Deaton, 12th Grade; Molly Speck, 11th Grade; Brittani Gilliam, 11th Grade; Brittany Tanner, 11th Grade; Lyndi Kidd, 10th Grade; Stephanie Dillard, 10th Grade; Shanna Grisham, 10th Grade; Maggie Cobb, 10th Grade; Brittany Edwards, 10th Grade; Natalie Frenn, 10th Grade; Haley Taylor, 10th Grade; and Samantha Mayo, 9th Grade; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this accomplishment by these student athletes who have again brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Ingomar High School "Lady Falcons" Girls Softball Team and Coach Andy Wilbanks for winning the Class 1A State Slow-Pitch Softball Championship Tournament and extend to them the best wishes of the Legislature for their future athletic and academic successes.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the Principal of Ingomar High School for the team and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
