AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE STATE AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY TO RECEIVE TRAINING AND THE AUTHORIZATION TO ASSIST IN THE ENFORCEMENT OF IMMIGRATION LAWS AS AUTHORIZED UNDER THE IMMIGRATION AND NATIONALITY ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  State and local law enforcement agencies are authorized to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Homeland Security to participate in the immigration law enforcement training program and to receive authorization to enforce immigration law as provided under Section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
