AN ACT TO DIRECT THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION TO TRANSFER AND CONVEY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION CERTAIN STATE-OWNED REAL PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE VICINITY OF 620 NORTH STREET IN JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The State Board of Education, on behalf of the Schools for the Blind and Deaf, shall transfer and convey to the Department of Finance and Administration certain state-owned real property located in the vicinity of 620 North Street in the City of Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi, and more specifically described as follows:

     Assignment of Property that is used for Parking by

     the occupants of the 620 North Street Building.

     Property was originally a part of land used by the

     School for the Blind prior to them being relocated

     to the property adjacent to Eastover Drive.

     The legislature of the State of Mississippi hereby

     assigns the following described property to the

     Department of Finance and Administration.

     Commencing at the intersection of the East R.O.W. line

     of North Street with the North R.O.W. of High Street,

     City of Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi, thence

     run N 08º50'00" E along the East R.O.W. of North

     Street for 135.00 feet to an iron pin, thence run S

     79º59'00"E for 159.67 feet to a concrete monument to

     and for a point of beginning, thence run N 08º50'18" E

     for 141.17 feet to an iron pin; thence run S 81º33'00"

     E for 149.39 feet to an iron pin at the West R.O.W.

     of Jefferson Street; thence run S 08º33'06" W along

     the West R.O.W. of Jefferson Street for 242.92 feet;

     thence run S 44º38'49" W for 35.77 feet to the North

     R.O.W. of High Street; thence run N 81º42'34" W for

     129.59 feet along the North R.O.W. of High Street to

     an iron Pin; thence run N 08º48'00" E for 130.98 feet

     back to the point of beginning, said parcel containing

     0.93 acres more or less and being known as the E ½ of

     a 2 acre Lot 10, North Jackson, according to H.C.

     Daniel's Map of the City of Jackson, Hinds County,   Mississippi.

     (2)  Upon conveyance of the property described in subsection (1), such property shall be maintained and controlled by the Department of Finance and Administration.

     (3)  Any revenue generated from the sale or lease of the real property described in subsection (1) shall be deposited into a special fund hereby created in the State Treasury.  Monies in the special fund shall be disbursed by the Department of Finance and Administration, in the discretion of the State Board of Education, for the benefit of the Mississippi School for the Blind.  Unexpended amounts remaining in the special fund at the end of a fiscal year shall not lapse into the State General Fund, and any interest earned on amounts in the special fund shall be deposited to the credit of the special fund.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
