AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF STATE GENERAL FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSE OF 100% OF THE GRANTS TO CERTAIN HIGH GROWTH SCHOOL DISTRICTS AS PROVIDED BY THE MISSISSIPPI ADEQUATE EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 2007.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund to the credit of the Mississippi State Department of Education for defraying certain expenses for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007................................... $13,378,270.00.

     The purpose of these funds is to provide grants in the current 2006-2007 school year to High Growth School Districts for one hundred percent (100%) of the growth in average daily attendance as provided in the Mississippi Adequate Education Formula under Section 37-151-7(1)(a), Mississippi Code of 1972.

     SECTION 2.  The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds, as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers, in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
