House Resolution 125

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE MICHAEL A. LOTT FOR HIS LEGISLATIVE LEGACY AND CONGRATULATING HIM UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

     WHEREAS, Representative Michael A. Lott, an honored and cherished member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, will make the 2007 legislative year his last when he retires; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Lott, who was born in Hattiesburg and resides in Petal, Mississippi, received his bachelor of arts degree from William Carey College and a master of arts from New Orleans Seminary; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Lott was initially elected in 2000 by the citizens of District 104, which consists of Forrest and Lamar Counties; and

     WHEREAS, due to his outstanding representation of this district, Representative Lott has served his constituents of his  district for eight productive years; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Lott currently serves the House as a contributing member of the following committees:  Education, Labor, Military Affairs, Public Property and Universities and Colleges; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to his committed service to the House of Representatives, Representative Lott is a successful small business owner; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Lott, a devoted husband and father of two, is a strong man of faith and is an active member of the Southern Baptist Church; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor and recognize one of our own, who has represented District 104 as well as this legislative body with honor, respect and dignity:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Representative Michael A. Lott for his legislative legacy and congratulate him upon the occasion of his retirement from the Mississippi House of Representatives.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Michael A. Lott and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
