A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE CHESTER W. MASTERSON FOR HIS LEGISLATIVE LEGACY AND CONGRATULATING HIM  UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

     WHEREAS, Representative Chester Warren Masterson, a retired physician and surgeon as well as an honored and cherished member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, will make the 2007 legislative year his last legislative year when he retires at the end of this session; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Masterson was born in Crowder and resides in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and after graduating from high school, attended the following institutions of higher learning:  Northwest Mississippi Community College, the University of Mississippi, where he received a bachelor of science degree and the University of Tennessee Medical School, where he received a doctor of medicine degree; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Masterson was initially elected in 2000 where he represents District 54 which consists of Issaquena, Sharkey and Warren Counties; and

     WHEREAS, due to his outstanding representation of his district, Representative Masterson has served District 54 for eight productive years; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Masterson currently serves the House of Representatives as a contributing member of the following committees:  Constitution, County Affairs, Insurance Select Committee on Accessible & Affordable Medical Malpractice Insurance, Medicaid, Public Health & Human Services and Ports, Harbors & Airports; and

     WHEREAS, as a retired physician and surgeon, Representative Masterson has helped save countless lives and has made a positive impact on all of his former patients; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Masterson, a family man, is also a strong man in the Baptist church; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor and recognize one of our own, who has represented District 54 as well as this legislative body with honor, respect and dignity:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the Honorable Chester Warren Masterson for his legislative legacy and congratulate him upon the occasion of his retirement from the Mississippi House of Representatives.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Chester W. Masterson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
