A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CORINTH HIGH  SCHOOL LADY WARRIORS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM AND THEIR COACH, KEN WILLIAMS, FOR WINNING THEIR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND FOR DISPLAYING TIRELESS DEVOTION TO THEIR ATHLETIC ENDEAVORS.

     WHEREAS, the Corinth High School Lady Warriors Cross Country Team have picked up their fourth consecutive cross country title by winning the 2006 State 3A Championship; and

     WHEREAS, leaving their competition in the dust by winning the  overall title by 19 points, the Lady Warriors had runners finish in the top ten overall and be named All-State:  Christina Coleman, Lauren Foropoulos, Katlyn Will, Kelsey Ford and Ivy Price; and

     WHEREAS, three team members won the top three positions: Katlyn Will won the Gold Medal, Lauren Foropoulos won the Silver Medal and Christina Coleman won the Bronze Medal; and

     WHEREAS, Katlyn Will, a three-time individual State Champion, wasted little time by finishing 53 seconds ahead of her nearest competition by blazing a 14:39.31 time and setting new records; and

     WHEREAS, the entire Lady Warriors Cross Country Team:  Katlyn Will, Lauren Foropoulos, Christina Coleman, Kelsey Ford, Ivy Price, Cynthia Cummins, Taylor Corder, Alex Hernandez, Wesley Green, Laura Wall, Sarah Bullard and Abby Lambert performed well throughout 2006 by setting several school records during the season; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Warriors have been superbly coached and inspired by Coach Ken Williams and Assistant Coach Dana Bullard, who have motivated and challenged the Lady Warriors to strive for their best; and

     WHEREAS, the 2006 Lady Warriors have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Corinth High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Corinth High School Lady Warriors Cross Country Team and their coach, Ken Williams, for winning their fourth consecutive Class 3A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Corinth High School, Coach Ken Williams, Assistant Coach Dana Bullard and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
