House Resolution 102

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. PAUL JONATHAN BARLOW FOR 47 YEARS AS A PUBLIC SERVANT AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

     WHEREAS, Mr. Paul Jonathan Barlow's retirement on June 30, 2006, ended 47 years of service as a public servant; and

     WHEREAS, he began his career as a public servant on a Monday after he finished his freshman year of college as a student trainee with the United States Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service; and

     WHEREAS, after 10 years with the Soil Conservation Service, he resigned to accept a position as a Principal Planner, Community Planning and Development Division, Mississippi Research and Development Center; and

     WHEREAS, he worked diligently for the Mississippi Research and Development Center until he was offered a position as a Base Civil Engineer for the Air National Guard and served in that capacity for more than 19 years; and

     WHEREAS, until his retirement on June 30, 2006, he served as the Assistant Director for the Bureau of Building, Grounds and Real Property Management, Department of Finance and Administration; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Barlow has always been driven throughout his career as a public servant, to make a difference in this state as well as the nation; and

     WHEREAS, he has been supported throughout his career by his wife, Nell, of 44 years and their children, Paula, Marla and Michelle; and

     WHEREAS, not only a man dedicated to public service, Mr. Barlow is a faithful member of Wildwood Baptist Church, where he serves as Deacon and Chairman of the Personnel Committee and a member of Gideons International; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize outstanding Mississippians who dedicate their lives to the public service of this nation and this state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Mr. Paul Jonathan Barlow for 47 years as a public servant and congratulate him upon the occasion of his retirement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Paul Jonathan Barlow and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
