A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE TATE COUNTY 4-H JUNIOR ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR BEING HONORED WITH THE GOVERNOR'S AWARD.

     WHEREAS, the Tate County 4-H Junior Advisory Council was chosen out of 114 applicants to receive one of the highest honors, the Governor's Award; and

     WHEREAS, this distinguished honor was given to the group during their annual 4-H Legislative Day Luncheon held at the Capitol; and

     WHEREAS, this organization is primarily composed of members who are 12 years of age or older; and

     WHEREAS, the winning project was named "The Environmental Art Day Camp" and was a result of the group conducting their first annual environmental Community Pride Grant for youth at the Northwest Community College Multipurpose Arena; and

     WHEREAS, the day camp was headed by Shelli Benton, Extension 4-H Agent in Tate County and involved 20 youth in the community who registered and attended the camp to learn information on environmental issues and how to create art from things they find in nature; and

     WHEREAS, the Tate County 4-H Junior Advisory Council partnered with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the Mississippi Forestry Commission, the North Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation, the Mississippi Soil and Water, USDA-NRCS, and the Mississippi State University Extension Service; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor children and organizations who actively seek to improve and learn more about their environments:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the Tate County 4-H Junior Advisory Council for being honored with the Governor's Award.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Tate County 4-H Junior Advisory Council and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
