A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND RECOGNIZING THE OUTSTANDING AND REMARKABLE LIFE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF HELEN C. HUSBAND.

     WHEREAS, Helen C. Husband, who is a vibrant and glowing 83-year-old, has made and continues to make substantial contributions to her community and church; and

     WHEREAS, born to loving parents on February 7, 1924, Ms. Husband was taught the importance of being a productive citizen and a God-fearing Christian; and

     WHEREAS, due to her proper rearing by her loving parents and due to her delightful personality and reputation for seeing that others are cared for, Ms. Husband has been named as the "Honorary Mayor of the Community of Maxie" in Forrest County, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, as the "Honorary Mayor of the Community of Maxie," Ms. Husband is known and adored by both young and old throughout the community, and she radiates the community's reputation for being friendly and welcoming; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Husband, prior to her well-deserved retirement,  was employed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development for 14 years where she was a vital part of helping to make sure that the agency's goals and objectives were accomplished; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to her stellar career at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Ms. Husband has also operated a residential care home for disabled veterans for 37 years; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Husband's operation of a residential care home for disabled veterans is a testament of her kind and selfless spirit in making sure that those who are in need are cared for; and

     WHEREAS, as the oldest member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she has been a contributing member for 71 years, Ms. Husband has held several positions including financial treasurer of the church, which speaks volumes of the trust that the pastor and members of the church have in her; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Husband has been lovingly supported in all of her endeavors by her two wonderful and respectful children, Christine and Kevin; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend great Mississippians such as Ms. Helen C. Husband, who has made positive contributions to her community, which in turn positively affects this great State of Mississippi.

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and commend Ms. Helen C. Husband for her outstanding life accomplishments, and extend warmest wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Helen C. Husband and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
