A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CORINTH HIGH SCHOOL WARRIORS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM ON WINNING THE 2006 CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Corinth High School Warriors Cross Country Team brought home yet another state title when the young men captured the 2006 Class 3A State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the Warriors finished on the top after edging out second place finisher, Carthage, by a 27-point margin and third place finisher, Kossuth, by 32 points; and

     WHEREAS, notable times were posted by several runners, including:  a time of 18:10:77 on the 5K course and landed a fifth place finish overall by Jordan Rickman; a sixth place finish by Spencer Rickman, who finished on the heels of his brother, Jordan; a ninth place finish by Lee Gutierrez (18:24:70); a personal best for Will Napier, who finished the second half of the race with only one shoe; Luke McCullen; Brian McDonnieal; and Drew Caveness; and

     WHEREAS, several of the Warriors were recognized for their superior performances, including the selection of Jordan Rickman, Spencer Rickman, Lee Gutierrez and Will Napier as All-State Runners; and

     WHEREAS, the entire Warriors Cross Country Team -- Jordan Rickman, Spencer Rickman, Lee Gutierrez, Will Napier, Luke McCullen, Brian McDonnieal, Drew Caveness, D.J. Sarallo, Jackson Cornelius, Graham Williams and Tyler Smith -- performed well throughout the 2006 season; and

     WHEREAS, the Warriors have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Ken Williams and Assistant Coach Dana Bullard, who have motivated and challenged the team members to strive for their best; and

     WHEREAS, the 2006 Warriors have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Corinth High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Corinth High School Warriors Cross Country Team and their coach, Ken Williams, for winning the 2006 Class 3A State Championship, and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IF FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Corinth High School, Head Coach Ken Williams, Assistant Coach Dana Bullard and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
