House Resolution 57

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. CINDY ROWSEY UPON BEING NAMED THE LAFAYETTE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Cindy Rowsey, a devoted and outstanding teacher at Lafayette Middle School, has been named Lafayette County School District Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Rowsey, who has been a dedicated teacher for 31 years, teaches sixth graders earth science where she makes learning fun and interesting by incorporating a hands-on approach to learning, which makes her students want to learn and get involved; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her outstanding teaching techniques, Mrs. Rowsey also believes in making sure that students see the relevance in whatever she teaches so that they will make the necessary effort in learning the material; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Rowsey, a native of Sardis, was taught the importance of receiving an education from her loving parents, and, as a result, she earned a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University and a master's degree in education from the University of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, knowing that she always wanted to be an educator, Mrs. Rowsey taught in the county schools for 26 years where she spent most of her time teaching fourth, fifth and sixth graders, and she taught United States history for 19 years before teaching the earth science classes that she teaches today; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Rowsey has been lovingly supported in all her endeavors by her husband, Dan, a teacher for 29 years who also shares the passion of teaching with his wife, and their two wonderful children, Eric and Evelyn; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the excellence of remarkable educators such as Mrs. Cindy Rowsey, who has a positive impact on her students and helps to ensure that students see the relevance and importance of learning:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Mrs. Cindy Rowsey for being named Lafayette County School District Teacher of the Year and for her exceptional contributions to the field of education in the State of Mississippi and extend to her heartiest wishes for much success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Cindy Rowsey, Lafayette Middle School and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
