A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. MARVIN "BOBBY" CALDWELL FOR 36 YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE ON THE ALCORN COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD AND CONGRATULATING HIM UPON HIS RETIREMENT.

     WHEREAS, Mr. Marvin H. "Bobby" Caldwell is retiring from the Alcorn County School Board after serving for six terms of six years from 1970 to 2006 resulting in 36 total years of service; and

     WHEREAS, during his dedicated tenure, he helped to start the Kossuth Band and assisted in purchasing their first uniforms; and

     WHEREAS, in spite of his retirement, he continues to help in the Kossuth Band's fund-raising activities; and

     WHEREAS, he has also helped many other Kossuth organizations with fund-raisers, such as, the Kossuth Boy Scouts who were fortunate enough to have Mr. Caldwell's famous Brunswick stew made and sold by him on their behalf, and many Kossuth Athletic clubs; and

     WHEREAS, a faithful Methodist, Mr. Caldwell is a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church where he continues to sing in the choir and assist with church fund-raisers with an excellent record of attendance to the church; and

     WHEREAS, in spite of his many fund-raising efforts, he still finds time as a 32nd Degree Mason, to participate in social organizations, such as the Shriners, Scottish Rites, Eastern Star and York Rites; and

     WHEREAS, as if these activities were not enough, he is a member and past President of the Alcorn County Hunting and Fishing Club; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the service of Mississippians who have contributed positively to the lives of children and communities within this great state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend Mr. Marvin "Bobby" Caldwell for 36 years of faithful service on the Alcorn County School Board and congratulate him upon his retirement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Marvin "Bobby" Caldwell and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
