A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF WESLEY S. FARMER AND ACKNOWLEDGING HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MISSISSIPPI 4-H CLUBS.

     WHEREAS, the Mississippi Dairy Industry and the Mississippi 4-H Program suffered a tremendous loss on November 9, 2006, as Mr. Wesley Scott Farmer passed from this world of suffering to enter into eternal rest with his Heavenly Father, causing great sorrow and loss to his family and friends; and

     WHEREAS, a native of Dry Creek, Louisiana, Mr. Farmer unselfishly served Mississippi’s dairy industry for over 15 years in the capacity of Associate Extension Dairy Cattle Professor with the Mississippi State University Extension Service, becoming a source of infallible information for dairy producers and others affiliated with the dairy industry; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Farmer was an exemplary leader for the Mississippi State University Extension Service, the Mississippi and Louisiana dairy industries, the Mississippi 4-H Program, the Mississippi Holstein Association, the Mississippi Jersey Cattle Club and many community and civic groups in the Brookhaven and Lincoln County area; and

     WHEREAS, maintaining a delightful positive outlook on life, even in the face of adversity, Mr. Farmer’s stellar dairy cattle educational programs conducted throughout his career will continue providing dividends to dairy producers and others affiliated with Mississippi and Louisiana’s dairy industries for years to come; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Farmer, an outstanding educator, skillful dealer and compassionate friend, was devoted to providing a safe, sound and nurturing family environment for his loved ones, especially his surviving relatives:  wife, Jeannie; children, Scott, Shelby and Seth; his parents and siblings and host of other relatives and friends; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend such a charismatic individual as Mr. Farmer, whose life was committed to revitalizing and encouraging the growth of Mississippi’s dairy industry:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and legacy of Wesley S. Farmer, acknowledge his contributions to the Mississippi 4-H Clubs and express deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Farmer and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
