A RESOLUTION COMMENDING BEVERLY WILKES OF NOXAPATER, MISSISSIPPI, UPON BEING RECENTLY ELECTED TREASURER OF PILOT INTERNATIONAL IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA, AT THE PILOT INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION.

     WHEREAS, Beverly Wilkes, a resident of Noxapater, Mississippi, was recently elected to the position of treasurer of Pilot International, during the organization's convention in Atlanta, Georgia; and

     WHEREAS, Pilot is an international service organization with clubs in six countries with a mission focused on brain-related disorders, such as Alzheimer's, chemical dependency, traumatic brain injuries, developmental, emotional and mental disabilities; and

     WHEREAS, a member of the Pilot Club of Louisville, Mississippi, since November 1982, Mrs. Wilkes has served her club in many different capacities, as president for two terms and as Lieutenant Governor, Governor-Elect and Governor of the Mississippi District; and

     WHEREAS, internationally she has served as Pilot International Convention Cochair, Convention Chairman, three-year member of the Foundation Scholarship Committee, Foundation Scholarship Trustee for one year and director for 2004-2006 before being elected to her new position as treasurer; and

     WHEREAS, a graduate of Noxapater Attendance Center and entrepreneur by trade, Mrs. Wilkes is the proud wife of John "Tuck" Wilkes; doting mother of three, Jodie Duran, Chet Wilkes and Justin Wilkes; and affectionate grandmother of Ty, Morgan, Madelyn and Nona Beth; and

     WHEREAS, a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church where she teaches Sunday School and sings in the choir, and has served as Vacation Bible School teacher, a member of the Social, Flower and Building and Grounds Committees, Mrs. Wilkes is committed to serving her fellowman as evidenced by her voluminous works; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend Mississippians such as Mrs. Wilkes, whose service with Pilot International is a testament of her zeal to aid those less fortunate than herself:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Beverly Wilkes of Noxapater, Mississippi, upon being recently elected treasurer of Pilot International, during the organization's convention in Atlanta, Georgia, and express warmest wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Beverly Wilkes, the Pilot International Club of Louisville, Mississippi, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
