House Concurrent Resolution 105

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SCOTT CENTRAL ATTENDANCE CENTER REBELS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH DARRIN GRAY FOR MAKING HISTORY BY BEING THE FIRST TEAM IN THE SCHOOL'S HISTORY TO MAKE IT TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT AND WINNING THE CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Scott Central Attendance Center Rebels Boys Basketball Team made history this year by being the first boys basketball team in the school's history to advance to the state tournament; and

     WHEREAS, this outstanding team not only advanced to the state tournament but came out winners and history makers again when the team was declared the Class 2A State Champions; and

     WHEREAS, during basketball season, the team won 25 games and lost 11 games; and

     WHEREAS, this great team was lead to victory by Head Coach Darrin Gray, and Assistant Coach Timothy White; and

     WHEREAS, not only has the team gained recognition for its athletic prowess, honors have been bestowed upon individual team members; and

     WHEREAS, Kenneth Barlow was awarded as Most Valuable Player in Division VI Basketball, Kenneth Barlow, Kendrick McKee and Michael Wells were honored as All-Division Players, Kendrick McKee was awarded Most Valuable Player for the State Championship Game, and Kenneth Barlow, Kendrick McKee and Michael Wells were named All-State Players; and

     WHEREAS, Kenneth Barlow will bring more notoriety to the school this summer by playing in the Mississippi All-Star Game for the South Squad; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend the special accomplishments of student athletes who not only bring honor to their schools but to their state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Scott Central Attendance Center Rebels Boys Basketball Team and Head Coach Darrin Gray for making history by being the first team in the school's history to make it to the state tournament and winning the Class 2A State Championship.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Darrin Gray, the Principal of Scott Central Attendance Center and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
