House Concurrent Resolution 97

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. JANE RACHEL FOR 51 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO LEONARD'S DEPARTMENT STORE.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Jane Rachel has been a dedicated employee of Leonard's Department Store (Leonard's) for 51 years where she continues to work faithfully as a business manager; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Rachel, a native of Kosciusko, was born to her loving parents, the late Emmett and Lovie Melton Prevost, who instilled in Mrs. Rachel a staunch work ethic; and

WHEREAS, putting her work ethic into practice, over 51 years ago, Mrs. Rachel began her career at Leonard's as a proficient secretary for W.C. Leonard, Sr., and W.C. Leonard, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Rachel became Leonard's adept business manager after the store was sold to Bernard Russell by W.C. Leonard, Jr., and since that time Mrs. Rachel, as the business manager, has made sure that the store's business affairs are always in order; and

WHEREAS, having been employed by two generations of the Leonard family, Mrs. Rachel, who has no immediate plans to retire, has worked with several individuals with whom she has created lasting and fond memories, and she continues to foster such memories with her colleagues whom she works with today; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Rachel has been lovingly supported in all her endeavors by her husband, Bernard; their wonderful son, Randy; and their two delightful grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize great Mississippians such as Mrs. Jane Rachel who has been instrumental in helping ensure that a historical and customer service oriented business such as Leonard's Department Store continues to be a strong economic force, which not only helps the City of Kosciusko but this great state as a whole:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Jane Rachel for her 51 years of dedicated service to Leonard's Department Store, and we wish her continued success in all of her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Jane Rachel and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
