House Concurrent Resolution 96

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF JUDY WARREN CHAPIN OF MOUNT OLIVE, MISSISSIPPI, AND EXTENDING THE SYMPATHY OF THE MISSISSIPPI STATE LEGISLATURE TO HER SURVIVING FAMILY.

     WHEREAS, Judy Warren Chapin departed this earthly life on March 4, 2007, causing great sorrow and sadness to her family and her many friends and students; and

     WHEREAS, a native of Covington County, Mrs. Chapin was the daughter of J.L. Warren and Irma Lee Rutland Warren, as well as the beloved sister of our long-time friend and colleague, Joe L. Warren, the Gentleman from Covington; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Chapin's love of children and desire to contribute to the education of Mississippi's youth led her to obtain a bachelor of science degree in education, and later to serve with distinction for 20 years as a teacher's aide at the Mount Olive Attendance Center, where she was loved and admired by her many students; and

     WHEREAS, this Christian lady was a devout member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Olive, and her generous and loving spirit was demonstrated by her kindness to others and her many good deeds, as well as by her cheerful and sunny disposition despite any difficulties or challenges placed in her path; and

     WHEREAS, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, Mrs. Chapin was an active member of her community, making the effort to contribute her time and talent to various worthy causes, as well as being a past member of the Mount Olive Music Club; and

     WHEREAS, she was the devoted wife of Mr. Charles Chapin, and their partnership on this earth was a blessed and happy marriage, during which time they created a loving family of which she was very proud; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Chapin is survived by her husband; her son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Stacy Chapin; her grandchildren, Kathryn and Logan Chapin; and her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Susan Warren; and their children, Lott and Anna Lee; all of whom will miss her very much, and we express our deepest condolences to each of them; and

     WHEREAS, even though Judy Warren Chapin will be greatly missed by her family and friends, her life and accomplishments brought happiness and joy to many, and she will not be forgotten as she rests in heavenly peace with her parents and sister who preceded her in death:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life and accomplishments of Judy Warren Chapin and express our deepest sympathy to her family on the sad occasion of her untimely departure from this life.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished Mr. Charles Chapin, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Chapin, Mr. and Mrs. Joe L. Warren and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
