House Concurrent Resolution 86

(As Adopted by House)

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING JUDGE JOHN CLARK LOVE, JR., FOR 32 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE ON THE BENCH AND CONGRATULATING HIM ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

WHEREAS, Judge John Clark Love, Jr., is retiring from the District 6 Chancery Court after 32 years of faithful service on the bench; and

WHEREAS, District 6 is composed of Attala, Carrol, Choctaw, Kemper, Neshoba and Winston Counties; and

WHEREAS, because many in the community have the opinion that "Judge Love has a first-rate legal mind and a legendary work ethic," many affectionately referred to him as "Dean of Chancery Judges"; and

WHEREAS, Judge Love has always been known as a "model judge" who worked diligently to protect the consumer and distribute justice fairly; and

WHEREAS, as evidence of his fairness, his first case as judge was a paternity dispute of twin girls that he left to the jury because he believed, "It's not a decision for me to make"; and

WHEREAS, he also has extensive experience in the youth court which has given him a broad perspective on the many issues plaguing that system and how resources may be distributed more fairly; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure, Judge Love has seen many changes in the legal system, including DNA testing, developments in child support and divorce cases, and incorporation of new court rules; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize dedicated public servants, such as Judge Love, who faithfully execute their duties to the community and maintain a fair environment for all citizens:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Judge John Clark Love, Jr., for 32 years of dedicated service on the bench and congratulate him on the occasion of his retirement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Judge John Clark Love, Jr., and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
