A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING DR. LYNN A. WRIGHT, UPON HER RETIREMENT AS HOLMES COMMUNITY COLLEGE VICE PRESIDENT OF ADMISSIONS AND RECORDS AFTER 21 YEARS OF SERVICE AT HOLMES COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND 27 YEARS IN EDUCATION.

     WHEREAS, when Dr. Lynn A. Wright retired from Holmes Community College as its Vice President of Admissions and Records, the school lost one of its finest education professionals; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Wright's efforts to gain a higher education began at Holmes Community College; and

     WHEREAS, after graduating from Holmes Community College, she went on to obtain her bachelor's degree in business education from Mississippi State, her master's degree in business education and marketing from Mississippi College, and her doctorate degree from the University of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Wright's 27 year career in education has benefited many other educational institutions; and

     WHEREAS, from 1967 to 1981, she taught typing, shorthand, accounting, business English and key punch at Draughon's College; from 1982 until 1984, she taught sales and marketing in the Jackson Public School System; she taught sales and marketing at the Clinton Vocational Center before coming to the Holmes Ridgeland Campus in 1985; and she was director of the workforce training program for ten years at the Holmes Ridgeland Campus before becoming dean in 2005; and

     WHEREAS, during her career, Dr. Wright has been lovingly supported by her husband, Elton, who also worked at Holmes Community College as track coach; and

     WHEREAS, during her retirement, her husband will lovingly support her in ripping out their kitchen cabinets and building new ones from two red oak trees cut from her home place near West; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend the dedicated service of educators such as Dr. Lynn A. Wright:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dr. Lynn A. Wright upon her retirement as Holmes Community College Vice President Of Admissions And Records after 21 years of service at Holmes Community College and 27 years in education.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Lynn A. Wright and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
