House Concurrent Resolution 79

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. JOHN KIMBROUGH, JR., FOR 60 YEARS OF SERVICE TO HOLMES COUNTY FARM BUREAU.

     WHEREAS, Mr. John M. Kimbrough, Jr., has selflessly served the Holmes County Farm Bureau (HCFB) for 60 years; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Kimbrough, who is known to many as "Mr. John"  began his tenure of service to HCFB after his return to Lexington, Mississippi, following World War II and after graduating from Mississippi State University; and

     WHEREAS, the epitome of "The Voice of Mississippi Agriculture," Mr. Kimbrough has served in various capacities on the HCFB Board of Directors, including president of the board; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Kimbrough, who believes in serving the needs of farmers and ranchers, was a cotton and soybean farmer for half of a century, and he presently manages a cattle herd; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to his outstanding service to the HCFB, Mr. Kimbrough has also served in leadership positions in the Cattlemen's Association, both on the local and state levels; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Kimbrough, in addition to his making a positive difference in the Cattlemen's Association, has also been involved in the Holmes County 4-H Club where he has made a significant impact; and

     WHEREAS, a man of faith, Mr. Kimbrough serves as an Elder on the Session at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Kimbrough has been supported by his lovely wife, Blanche, and their three children, ten beautiful grandchildren and four adorable great-grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize Mississippians such as Mr. John Kimbrough, Jr., who have made a positive difference in the lives of farm families in making sure that their voices are heard:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Mr. John M. Kimbrough, Jr., for 60 years of remarkable service to the Holmes County Farm Bureau, and extend warmest wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. John M. Kimbrough, Jr., and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
