House Concurrent Resolution 76

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE, LEGACY AND SERVICE OF FORMER CHICKASAW COUNTY CHANCERY CLERK AND CLERK OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, CECIL DERWOOD MCCULLOUGH, AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

     WHEREAS, Cecil Derwood McCullough, long time Chancery Clerk and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors of Chickasaw County, Mississippi, departed this earthly life to enter into eternal rest, after honorably serving 36 years, causing great sorrow and loss to his family and friends; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. McCullough had a vital role in protecting matters involving equity, divorce, alimony, probate, guardianship and sanity as well as the protection and preservation of public welfare in the holding of public trust; and

     WHEREAS, a model standout citizen, who served this country in World War II, Mr. McCullough exhibited the patriotism of today, rooted in the belief that what America has to offer mankind are the ideals of human dignity and freedom; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. McCullough, a dedicated public servant, having given unselfishly of his time and talents, brought deep feelings of pride and recognition to Chickasaw County; and

     WHEREAS, though he has traversed the rivers of life to now stand on golden heavenly shores, the legacy of his memory and the far-reaching impact of his service will forever be remembered by those who came to know and love him most, his family:  wife, Geraldine McCullough; daughters, Angela Tunnell, Mary Beth Dendy and Janine Freeman; and host of other relatives and friends; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend the life of such a monumental individual as Mr. McCullough, whose life was filled by sharing the gift of service and self sacrifice:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life, legacy and service of Cecil Derwood McCullough and express deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. McCullough and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
