House Concurrent Resolution 73

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING MS. DOROTHY "DOT" JONES UPON HER RETIREMENT AFTER 25 YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO THE CITY OF KOSCIUSKO.

     WHEREAS, Ms. Dorothy "Dot" Jones has retired after 25 years of dedicated and superb service to the City of Kosciusko; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Jones began her devoted tenure for the City of Kosciusko in 1973 where she was employed by the Kosciusko Redevelopment Authority as a capable administrative assistant; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Jones became the city's deputy clerk where her primary duties were payroll, insurance, cemetery plot records and general office work; and

     WHEREAS, as Kosciusko's deputy clerk, Ms. Jones not only positively affected the lives of her colleagues, but she also performed priceless service to the residents of the city; and

     WHEREAS, during her dynamic years of service, Ms. Jones also answered phone calls daily concerning every area of the city's government which enabled hundreds of citizens to get their questions or concerns addressed in a timely and efficient manner; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Jones' 25-year career span has enabled her to work with and to form cherished memories with the following city clerks:  Inez Nowell, Doralyn Simpson, Helen Wasson and Janet Baird; and

     WHEREAS, in addition, Ms. Jones has also worked with and formed lasting memories with the following Mayors of the City of Kosciusko:  Doty Jackson, Horace Hutchison, Freddie George, Cletone Pope, George Lewis and Jimmy Cockroft; and 

     WHEREAS, Ms. Jones has been lovingly supported in all her endeavors by her son, William, and daughters, Debbie and Donna, along with their spouses, and her six adorable grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend the public service of such an outstanding Mississippian as Ms. Dorothy "Dot" Jones who went beyond her call of service to the public:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Dorothy "Dot" Jones upon her retirement and extend heartiest wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Dorothy "Dot" Jones and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
